Пишет Loony:Has Slash Made the World Better for Gay Men? - спрашивает гей-блоггер с афтерэлтон, и, как всякий блоггер, сам себе и отвечает.
Slashfic definitely isn’t the first time a majority culture has explored the stereotypes of a minority culture in their own fantasies, sexual or otherwise.
And let’s face it: the track record of these co-optings isn’t particularly good when it comes to providing any true enlightenment on the part of the majority. Did the American stereotypes of Asian women as the sexy Dragon Lady or the China Doll make Americans more sympathetic to Asians? What about the minstrel tradition involving African American stereotypes?
...when you look at “slash” as the greater phenomenon of the female celebration of gay love – when you see it as more than just slashfic– it does seem, unlike heterosexual porn and straight men, to be making many women more sympathetic to and aware of GLBT issues and gay male oppression.
It may also be normalizing gay male sex, long considered the ultimate taboo by – who else? – straight men. It’s become increasingly difficult for anyone to claim that “society” thinks gay sex is disgusting as more and more women openly declare it “hot,” or at least “really sweet.” tbc
Насколько я понимаю, именно этот парень ведет колонку советов о личной жизни "Dear Pigeon Guts", так что он будет щадить ваши чувства, дорогие слэшерки, читайте без страха.
